On September 11, 2024, Dr. Nawatthakorn Umasin, Assistant Professor Napatchanok Kwansanga, Ms. Arunee Kuson, and Ms. Nureeya Lam-bensa, faculty members and students from the Fashion and Textile Design Program, Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, presented the creative works of faculty and students at the press conference for Bangkok International Fashion Week 2024 (BIFW2024). This marks one of the longest-standing runways, spanning over 10 years, reinforcing its position as a vital platform that supports Thailand’s fashion industry—from emerging designers to internationally renowned Thai designers.
This year, Siam Paragon Bangkok International Fashion Week, the premier fashion event in Thailand, will be held on a grand scale, featuring Thailand’s first global fashion symposium. It will showcase Thailand’s potential in the global fashion industry from October 2–6, 2024, at Siam Paragon, under the concept “Envision the Future,” driving Thai fashion into the future.
The creative work integrated with teaching, learning, and academic services for the community focuses on fashion design for local communities. This collaboration involves working with entrepreneurs in Songkhla Province, such as Batik Yang Kluay, Leelawadee Batik, the Ban Hua Khao Women’s Group, the Sapan Pla Weaving Group, the Rom Sai Weaving Group, Aiya Batik, Komen Batik Group, and the Songkhla Correctional Facility Weaving Group. These collaborations were facilitated through courses such as “Wisdom for Design,” “Community Fashion,” “Experimental Fashion,” and “Trends and Design for Social Responsibility and Community Engagement,” fostering a genuine participatory approach to creative development.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Siam Center for providing the opportunity for our students to participate in the press conference. #BIFW2024
